Does anyone have any tips for moving out of employment to working on business development for a small company ?
There has been some fantastic support from people, but I have not found a web resource that gives advice
Corporate punk is probably who I should speak to, but he sounds disruptive from the inside out

Have been in London this week at Government Computing expo. which gave me an opportunity to meet some old friends, and acquaint myself with new ones previously only encountered via the Web.
If I had lined them up and tried to match faces with email addresses, I wonder what the success rate would be ?
The Innovation Exchange was interviewed by the UK Cabinet Office and should find out whether its bid has been successful on June 18th. Fingers crossed for them

It must be time for the rest of us to do something too
Spoke with Jeremy Gould at teh end of the week about blogs, learning how to use WordPress and other interesting vignettes. This prompted me to make an entry as it has been too long.

Have been strugglin with blog activity. Tried Facebook for beginners and it is so much easier to do things. You can set up a group in seconds.
Still have not worked out how to add a link in this WordPress package.

Guardian Unlimted pick up that Lord Browne ( ex BP and Goldman Sachs ) is looking for a new job.
Would it not be great if he tried to serve the public by working in public service rather than the City of London ? Does he really need the money right now ?
If anyone knows him, perhaps they would drop him a line

A number of people are beginning to ask themselves and others how people within government might catch up with Web 2.0
Some of the leading players are now engaging with the technology, creating employment opportunites and sticking their toes in the water.
Politicians in the UK, at central and local government level are blogging. In the UK, government officials are too. There have been some good stories and some bad. What seems clear is that officials need to work hard to catch up. How will they be able to use the social networking and creative power of the web for improving the citizen’s lot ?
by getting some practice in blogging
by following the Maldives lead ( a virtual embassy in second life ) launched yesterday
by seeing if policies can be debated in wiki
How might these types of initiatives get started ? By a group of talented web-preneurs getting together and working across a network to prove the value ?

Following the debate and wondering how anyone manages to organise their own computer so that it receives the RSS, blog entries and other changes they may wish to check.
What is a tag ? How does one create one in a blog ? Where to go to find these things out ? Is it always google or are there other avenues ?

See some details for the bid here

Today is over a week after the elections and still no-one knows who will be in power.
142,000 people were denied a vote as they could not understand the ballot papers.
That is more electors than people than live in our 4th largest city, Dundee.
