A number of people are beginning to ask themselves and others how people within government might catch up with Web 2.0
Some of the leading players are now engaging with the technology, creating employment opportunites and sticking their toes in the water.
Politicians in the UK, at central and local government level are blogging. In the UK, government officials are too. There have been some good stories and some bad. What seems clear is that officials need to work hard to catch up. How will they be able to use the social networking and creative power of the web for improving the citizen’s lot ?
by getting some practice in blogging
by following the Maldives lead ( a virtual embassy in second life ) launched yesterday
by seeing if policies can be debated in wiki
How might these types of initiatives get started ? By a group of talented web-preneurs getting together and working across a network to prove the value ?
